The technology for managing hazardous waste at the industrial waste management company PT Prasadha Pamunah Limbah Industri (PPLI) has become integrated in Indonesia. This appreciation was conveyed by an expert on the environment and natural resources, Prof. Dr. Ir Isman Kadar. According to the Professor at Pakuan Bogor University, the management at PPLI is very qualified and meets the requirements of legislation in Indonesia, with strict and disciplined SOPs.
However, the environmental academic from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) regrets that for a country the size of Indonesia, there is only one modern and integrated waste treatment company. Isman conveyed this when accompanying Pakuan University environmental management postgraduate students on a visit to the PPLI industrial waste treatment center in Klapanunggal, Bogor, Saturday (19/11).
The presence of the Environmental Master candidate, Isman continued, was to see first-hand the proper and correct method of waste management. Isman assessed that with only one industry, modern and integrated waste management would make the cost of transporting waste high. He also sees that there are still many companies that are disobedient and have low understanding of WWTP. For this reason, Isman added, the role of the government must also be strong in supporting, facilitating and socializing so that companies are concerned about managing their waste properly. (atp)
